Day 9: 5 Best Ways Nigerians Make Money Online with a Blog in Nigeria

In Nigeria having an online blogging business is one of the best ways to make money online and in today’s article I’ll continue the series on the Top 5 Best Ways to Make Money Online with Your Blog in Nigeria to The Bank. By now I’m assuming you already know how to set up a simple blog in only 45 minutes using The 6-Figure Blogging Millionaire Beginners Course here.

Without wasting your time here are the Five (5) Best Ways to Make Over N500,000 aka Money from Blogging

1. You Become The Go-To Guy and Establish Yourself as an Expert

3. Make Money With AdSense

Google has a program called AdSense which can make money for you as a Blogger and its FREE. This is how it works. You set up a simple blog, then you register a free google adsense account and then google allows you to display different marketer’s pay per click adverts on your blog. When visitors your blog click on any of these advert links, you make money.

Google will pay you either in dollars or in Euro by sending a cheque to your address right here in Nigeria. The advantage is that you don’t even need to pre-sell your visitors, because you get paid for the click – not the sale.

While this is a “quick and dirty” way to monetize a blog, it shouldn’t be your first choice. That’s because if you’ve chosen a good niche and you’re sending highly targeted traffic to your blog, then you should be able to make more money by selling your own products or affiliate products like we do here.

4. Sell Advertising and Links

Another profitable way to make money with the same blog is to sell advert space and advert links on your blog. This means that people will pay you money (it could be per week or per month) to place banner adverts on your blog so that when people visit your blog and they click on those ads, they would go to the advertisers website.

You could charge anywhere from N3,000 – N100,000 per week for banner ads to be placed on your blog. So you won’t say its just “talk”, here are some examples of other Nigerians using the blog monetization secret e.g. OgbongeBlog.com, Bella Naija, Gnaija etc

5. Affiliate Marketing

Maybe you don’t want to create your own products to sell or you don’t have the time or you just want a short cut and its maybe that’s not the kind of work you want to do. Whatever your blog niche, there are products out there being sold that are related to your topic. You can be an affiliate of such products right here in Nigeria.

This means that you sell the person’s product using HIS/HER website and you are given a commission per sale. Most times, the least commission is 50% and it can even go as high as 70% commission. All you need to do is contact the owner and request to be his affiliate, work out some terms and off you go, making money without doing any product creation.

Day 6: The Newbies Guide To Making Real Money Online in Nigeria

Welcome back. In the previous lesson I revealed “Powerful Tips on List Building for your Online Business Income” which was copied out of my original HOBBY INCOME FORMULA here

So in today’s lesson you’d discover “the various autoresponder services available for you to use, how to create your free ebook and squeeze page to build a list of 1,000 desperate ready-to-buy subscribers in as little as 30-60 days for your online business

Just a quick reminder. In order to make money online in the information online business in Nigeria you need to sell an information product usually in form of an ebook. One of the best ways to sell it is to offer a kind of free information related to your product so you can in exchange for it the names, emails and sometimes GSM numbers of visitors to your website.

The automated tool used to do this for you is the “autoresponder” like I discussed in detail in lesson 5 here. There are several autoresponders available some of them are free and others paid.

The free ones also work well but many times they include adverts in your emails which could distract the person you’re sending an email to (the aim is to persuade him or her to buy your info-product online).

Examples of the FREE autoresponders are:

1) Freeautobot.com

2) Listwire.com

Examples of the PAID autoresponders are:

1) Getresponse.com

2) Aweber.com

3) Trafficwave.net

There are several autoresponder services but these are the best. I recommend that you go for the paid autoresponders because you are safe with them. Your list won’t go missing some day and you can be sure your email message gets the delivered. The ones I use are the getresponse and trafficwave above. Costs about $18 per month which is about N2,970.

To get started all you need to do is to click on any of the links above and click on register. Both getresponse and trafficwave are FREE for the first 30 days but of the two getresponse is better even though a little more expensive. You can get a FREE tutorial from those companies on how to use their service to grab the details of visitors to your website or you can just boycott all that stress by getting my Basic Course for the Beginner on the 6-Figure Income Autoresponder and Email marketing Business Guide here

Now that you know how where and how to use an autoresponder, let’s get deeper into this thing which is:

How to create your ebook as an Info-product for sale or your FREE report

Creating an ebook is very easy using a software with the click of a button. Just 3 steps:

(1) First of all get the software used to convert Microsoft word documents into ebooks or pdf format. There are free ones and paid ones. Again I use the paid one because of copyrights. After spending some quality time to type out an information I would not want anybody somewhere to clean off my name and write his name as the author of the ebook, so I use a paid ebook converter software that prevents my work from being copied. You can get the same software and the tutorial used to create ebooks in only 3 minutes at N1,500. You can order here.

If N1,500 is too much for you, you can download an Open Office free ebook converter here but know that your work is not protected.

(2) Type out on a laptop or write out the information on a sheet of paper which you want to sell or the free report you want to give out via your autoresponder (to build a list) for those who don’t have their personal computers.

And then take it to a business center and give it to someone to type for you on a Microsoft word document. I don’t understand why anyone in this time and age do not have their own personal laptops when they can get one from N14,000 – N40,000 for a very good brand new mini-laptop.

I bought one for N14,000+ and you too can get one here. So after typing out the information, if it’s a free report it should not be long, anywhere from 7-10 pages is perfect for the free report and if it’s a paid report you can determine the number of pages depending on the steps the information would take.

(3) After typing your document and saving it. Open up that document again, click on File, click on Print and under the option called Properties, select OpenOffice and click on OK and your ebook will be created. Next you click on File and click on Save as. Type the name of the ebook you want to save it as and your ebook is done!

Now that your ebook is ready, your autoresponder is ready the next thing you should do is to create the webpage which would carry your autoresponder form. This special page that contains the form that grabs the names and emails of visitors to your website so you can sell your info-product is called a squeeze page. In order to build that special page, here are two very, VERY, VERY important reasons for an autoresponder and squeeze page which will help you go from broke or not-having-enough-money to a 6-figure and 7-figure income businessman:

(1) To build a list

(2) To develop a relationship with your list

I have taught you in detail on why and how to build a list, now what would you do with your list? Its not just to market to them so you can sell to them but to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with them. Mark my words in bold “mutually beneficial relationship”.

In as much as you want to benefit from your list so they can buy your products, they too MUST benefit from you. Infact they must benefit from you first, you must give to them first and get them to like and trust you before they would ever buy from you.

Its common sense, you buy from people you like isn’t it?

Now the BEST way to develop a relationship with your list after building that list is via another online business model called Blogging. Now not every guru will tell you their secret ingredient for making trailer loads of cash.J

Remember, in lesson 4 I said when I was a newbie to the Information Online Business (I was once a newbie too;) ), something my mentors always said to me over and over again was “The Money is in the LIST”. THAT is just ONE part of the Truth. The second truth about it is “The Money is in the relationship you have with your LIST”.

A List IS a collection of the personal details such as the name, email and/or phone number of the people who are interested in your target market for your online info-business.

In order to build a list, you need some tools. Without these tools you would find it hard to make a consistent income online. Fortunately most of these tools are cheap, easy and very easy to obtain and sometimes even free.

To build a list is a simple process. You don’t need any special skills to do it, neither do you require a fortune, best of all it can be automated using what is known as Email Marketing. So whenever you see the word email marketing, know that it’s the same thing as building a list and having a relationship with your list.

Now, let’s go on and work on each of these tools.

A domain name

A domain name is simply like your business name for your information product but this time, it is on the internet. It is a name used to locate you or your products and services online.

When choosing a domain name for your info-product business, choose one that short, easy to spell, easy to remember and one that immediately when someone hears about it, they would immediately know what to expect if they visit it.

If you noticed, each domain name has what we do on that website embedded in the name, so choose a domain name that reflects what you do. You can get a .com domain name for a N2,000 yearly fee at www.SwiftWebsiteHost.com

A hosting account

In order to have a website to sell your info-product on the internet, you need a domain name and a hosting account. A hosting account provides you with the facilities to have your website and domain name online. As a beginner in the info-business, you can start with a minimum of 30MB hosting account and at least 400MB bandwidth. You can then have a larger hosting account like me where I use 200MB each of my websites.

A simple Squeeze Email or Squeeze Webpage

A squeeze email is a special email which can automatically collect the names and emails of prospects who are interested in your FREE report who will later buy your paid info-product.

So whenever someone sends an email to this special email of yours, that person’s name and email will automatically be added to your list building software called an autoresponder.

With this special email, you can automatically send one email to everyone on your list at the click of a button.

A squeeze page is simply a webpage that is created solely for the purpose of collecting potential customers’ emails, names and even GSM numbers. An example of this is www.RichCorper.com

A salesletter webpage

A salesletter is a personal letter from you on your website showing and convincing your potential customer how you can solve their problems by obtaining a copy of your info-product.

Only after collecting the names and emails of your potential customer should he/she see your salesletter. Click here to see an excellent example of a salesletter!

Your FREE information product

Like I earlier told you, the only way a sane human being will give you his details (name, email and even his GSM number) is if you are giving him something valuable at zero cost to him. I mean you are giving him something for FREE in exchange for their details.

So you must write a short valuable report with a powerful title. This FREE report is what you would aggressively market. This is how it works — > You would use any of any the 3 powerful advertising methods to advertise your FREE report, so that anyone who wants it would send you his details.

You would then direct him to your squeeze email or squeeze website, where he will fill his details to be grabbed by your autoresponder (list building software).

After filling in his details, he would then download your FREE report which carries the valuable information you promised him AND your salesletter selling your paid info-product.

A word of warning here: Your FREE information must be relevant to your paid info-product. Not that you are selling weight loss information but you advertised a make money FREE report. Hope you understand?

Let’s move on to the other tool you need to drive desperate buyers to your website:

Bulk SMS Account (optional but very useful)

A bulk SMS account is an account that lets you send bulk SMS messages to over 5,000 people’s GSM numbers at once. It is cheap, that’s not all you can also use it for your marketing purposes.

For example to remind people of the deadline to buy your info-product, to direct people to your squeeze webpage, to pass useful information to your list members etc.

There are several bulk SMS services in Nigeria but most of them only send to GSM networks (Airtel, MTN, GLO, Etisalat) but NOT to CDMA networks like Visaphone, Starcomms etc.

So you must be careful while choosing one, price is not the only factor to consider. Imagine if 1000 people subscribed to your list and out of those 1,000 people, 200 of them sent you their CDMA numbers, it means when you send them Bulk SMS messages, your message will not be delivered to them but the Bulk SMS service would tell you that it was delivered.

Personally, the service I use for my own businesses which sends Bulk SMS to both GSM and CDMA networks is www.SMSProfitz.com and yes, it is owned by us.

I’ve used them for 3 years now and they have never failed me.

An autoresponder

An autoresponder is software that enables you to build a list of potential customer names, emails and recently phone numbers on automatic, using a special squeeze email or squeeze page.

It also enables you to send emails to your prospects automatically even when you are not on your computer or online. This doesn’t mean that it writes the emails for you. It just sends the emails you have pre-written to be sent at the time you want it sent.

Usually, the only way people will gladly give you their details is if you offer them something free in exchange for it. This could be a free report, free consultation etc.

The more people you have on your list who are interested in your products or services, the more sales you will make.

A man who has 5,000 people on his list will sell more than someone who has 500 people on his list even if they are selling the same info-product.

Let’s compare something together. Remember our conversion rate formula in a previous lesson?

A 10% conversion rate of buyers from a 5,000 list is 500 people buying an info-product at N2,500. That would mean that the man with 5,000 people on his list will make N2,500 X 500 people = N1,250,000, over a Million Naira.

Bur the man with only 500 people on his list, a 10% conversion rate would mean he would only make a small N125,000.

The is your information product. We have already covered in full detail how to get this ready here. Space won’t allow foe how to do this, the tips, tricks, etc and how to do so in just 7 days.

Aggressive advertising cash

In order to use the different marketing methods you need cash. For a start, you can set aside at least N15,000 for any one of the marketing methods you want to use. What I mean is irrespective of the marketing methods you want to use, each one would cost you at least N15,000.

I suggest that you use a different marketing method each month, so that you can test which method brings the most list method and continue using it.

Word of warning: Don’t rely on only one method of marketing for your info-marketing business. Personally, I’m always learning. Last 2 years, towards the end of the year I learnt a new marketing method I’ve never used and the results where a.w.e.some….it was facebook marketing…boy!

Was I glad I discovered it. Most times I place an advert with just $95 which is about N15,200 to build a list of 2.500 desperate buyers in just 4 days. Mre on this soon.

Welcome back. In Day 3’s lesson. In the previous lesson I revealed the Part 1 on “How to Determine the Amount of Money you want to make from your Info-products ONLINE Business”.

We learnt how to set any figure in Naira as your income goal and number of persons who will buy your product per month in order to hit your income goal. So if your income goal is N200,000 per month selling a N3,500 product online by now you should know how many people who should buy your product for you to hit N200,000/month. So in today’s lesson which is Part 2, you’d discover the second component in the equation which is == > “What to do to hit our income goal EVERY month using your List Building Goal”.

Remember, in lesson 3 I told you that there are two(2) goals you have to set in order to know how much you want to make initially from your info-product online: The Income Goal and List Building Goal

For the fresh newbies in the house, let me quickly tell you what a list is. A list is the MOST important tool for your online business. This is the reason so many Nigerians are struggling in their online businesses. No matter the model of your online business, if you don’t understand what a list is, how it works, how to build a list, how to grow a list and what to do with the list, you will SURELY fail in your online business.

Infact when I was a newbie ( I was once a newbie too;) ), something my mentors always said was “The Money is in the LIST”.

Now that I’ve said all that you must be wondering in your mind now, “Madam Onome, so what is a list?”. A List IS a collection of the personal details such as the name, email and/or phone number of the people who are interested in your target market for your online info-business.

It does not matter if such people have a 100% of 20% interest or not, as long as the person has even if its 1% interest in your target market, then you need to have that person’s details.

Here are the top 4 reasons why you must build a list and NOT do any selling in your first contact with your prospect in your online business:

Reason 1: Building a list helps you know how hot your market is or if your information product is wanted by your potential prospects. If you place an advert and just 10 people responded to your advert, that should tell you that either there is no market for your product or there is a market but your advert is not powerful

Reason 2: It helps you to market to the same people on your list over and over and over again

Reason 3: It gives you the ability to market people in your list on automatic, so if you have 5,000 people on your list, you can just send one email to all 5,000 of them at the same time using a special list building software

Reason 4: It can help you follow up on your prospects for a long period of time to finally convince them to invest in your product

So now that you know why you should build a list, the BIG question is how do you build a list? I will reveal the basic steps to you in lesson 5 but if you would not like to wait and would like to have a detailed report on it, then get this FREE training on how to build a list here

Back to our Main topic of today’s lesson which is List Building Goal.

Let’s assume that you want to make N50,000 every month selling a N2,500 info-product online, you have to get 20 NEW customers PER month (I showed you how to do this in Day 3’s lesson).

So to do this, you have to build a list of people who are interested in your FREE report which is related to the info-product you are selling. You would give away this report to them in exchange for their names, emails or GSM numbers.

Side note: People who request for your FREE information who have not bought anything from you are called prospects and people who have bought your product are called customers or clients

Now, there is an unwritten law of having a sales conversion rate of at least 5-10% of people who requested to have your FREE report who would eventually buy your info-product. (This conversion rate can increase or decrease).

Using the 10% conversion rate, it means to have 20 new people buy your product at N2,500 every month, you need to have at least 200 new people requesting for your FREE report EVERY month.

This means that you MUST have a marketing action plan to build your list every month to continue making at least N50,000 every month.

This is how I got to know you need 200 people every month:
10% is same as 10/100 = 0.1

So a 10% (or 0.1) conversion rate for 20 new buyers = 20/0.1
= 200 new prospects per month

Side note: Some of the other people who joined your list would buy your products sometime during any month, but we are talking about how to make a “consistent” income goal every month.

In summary, you would set your income goal first and then use it to set your list building goal and the rest would fall into place in making a 6-figure income from your online business.

Welcome back. In Day 2’s lesson we learnt that the first thing you need to do when you want to start your info-marketing business is to target a market that your info-product will face.

I already showed you how to do that in that lesson. So in today’s lesson you’d discover “How to Determine the Amount of Money you want to make from your Info-products ONLINE Business”.

Now after you have decided on the market you will g into, the next thing you’re to do is to decide how much money you want to make from your business with the FIRST product.

Isn’t that just too wonderful?

I mean there is a business where you decide how much you want to make ever BEFORE you go into it. Not many businesses are like that. The Information Business gives you leverage. Now three things I want you to take note of here:

Point 1: I said determine how much you want to make from the FIRST product and not your full business. I know my title says from “Your Business”. It was just to get your attention. This is the real deal. The only way you can make money online CONSISTENTLY is NOT to sell one product but to sell several related products to your target market.

This is why many people will never make good money or even any amount of money online. They think the online business is just an income opportunity to hit the money once and get out of it to do something else.

If that is YOU, then you are in the WRONG business because that mindset will be the cause of your downfall.

I said that to say this: To make money online on a regular basis (which we all want) then you must sell different related products to your market.

Point 2: To do that you should begin to think of your online business as a REAL business you would do and STICK to it no matter what. Come rain or sunshine. Whether you are making money from it or not you must stick to it until you get it. I know its hard to stick to what is not working but this is my story.

I run different models of online-based businesses. In one of them, I did not get my first customer until AFTER one full year of running it. So I know how it feels, I almost gave up but my dreams of what was possible from that business made me stick to it.

In the second business, it was not until after 6 months that I got my first customer online, but now within my first 2 weeks of starting any online business, I hit nothing less than 50 customers within 2 weeks and much more after. So I’m not a magician, I have experienced some of what you have experienced too.

I hear this complaint often from people, “I have been doing online business for 3 years, 4 years but I have not made a dime online”. If this is you in anyway, here’s my advise (something I did which helped me): Don’t give up on it. Stick to it but do NOT keep doing the same thing. Seek help from people who are doing the same thing and IS WORKING for them.

By seeking help I do not mean disturb the person day and night, No, BUY the person’s product, Buy Coaching from that person. The truth is that most gurus are busy people. They would listen to you and try to help a little but you may NOT get enough help that would move your business or income forward.

Why?

They have most likely a product on what you are requesting to be taught, so why spend their precious time investing in you again when they have already invested in creating a product that has solved that problem already?

They would rather invest it in something that would bring more money for them or their other interests and passions.

And now for Point 3. In order to determine how much you want to make initially from your FIRST product in your information marketing online business, you should have two goals:

1. Income Goal

2. List Building Goal

Income Goal

This will help you determine how much you want to make from a particular info-product before you create it. When you know this, it will then help you to set your list building goal.

Assuming that you have a target to make N50,000 per month for a start from your Information Business, here is a breakdown of what you should target:

Example #1 – N50,000 Income Goal at N1,500 product

**If your product sells for N1,500, for a N50,000 per month income goal, you will divide N50,000 by N1,500 i.e

N1,500 = Cost of your product N50,000 per month income goal = N50,000/N1,500 = 34 sales

**This means that you need to sell 34 copies of your product at N1,500 to make N50,000.

Example #2 – N50,000 Income Goal at N2,500 product

**If your product sells for N2,500, for a N50,000 per month income goal, you will divide N50,000 by N2,500 i.e

N2,500 = Cost of your product

N50,000 per month income goal = N50,000/N2,500 = 20 sales

**This means that you need to sell 20 copies of your product at N1,500 to make N50,000.

Example #3 – N200,000 Income Goal at N1,500 product

**If your product sells for N1,500, for a N200,000 per month income goal, you will divide N200,000 by N1,500 i.e

N1,500 = Cost of your product

N200,000 per month income goal = N200,000/N1,500 = 134 sales

**This means that you need to sell 134 copies of your product at N1,500 to make N200,000.

Example #4 – N200,000 Income Goal at N2,500 product

**If your product sells for N2,500, for a N200,000 per month income goal, you will divide N200,000 by N2,500 i.e.

N2,500 = Cost of your product

N200,000 per month income goal = N200,000/N2,500 = 80 sales

**This means that you need to sell 80 copies of your product at N2,500 to make N200,000.

Example #5 – N200,000 Income Goal at N3,500 product

**If your product sells for N3,500, for a N200,000 per month income goal, you will divide N200,000 by N3,500 i.e

N3,500 = Cost of your product

N200,000 per month income goal = N200,000/N3,500 = 57 sales

**This means that you need to sell 57 copies of your product at N3,500 to make N200,000. Now you can see how to break your monthly income goals to something you can achieve. To me, the easiest income goal is selling information products for N2,500 – N5,000.

The reason is because you can quickly hit your income target and most especially it’s the SAME effort you will put to sell a N1,000 product that you use to sell a N2,500 or N3,500 product from experience.

Selling a product above N5,000 as your first-time info-product maybe a little difficult unless you have already established a long time relationship with your list or you are having a seminar but here we are talking about making the BIGGEST sum of cash with little upfront investments.

- N10,000 x 5 people = 50,000

- N5,000 x 10 people = 50,000

- N3,500 x 14 people = 50,000

- N2,500 x 20 people = 50,000

- N1,500 x 34 people = 50,000

- N1,000 x 50 people = 50,000

Now, that we have established our income goal and number of persons who will buy your product per month, we have to talk about the second component in the equation which is == > What TO DO do to hit our income goal EVERY month. We will talk about that in Day 4’s lesson.
